Long Steel Market Expands with Rising Demand from Construction and Infrastructure Development

Long steel is a fundamental material for modern construction, transportation, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure. Products such as bars, rods, wire rods, and structural shapes provide the strength and durability required for buildings, bridges, highways, railways, and industrial facilities. Continued infrastructure investment is therefore creating stable demand across global markets.

The global Long Steel Market was valued at approximately USD 980.57 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow from USD 1,009.22 billion in 2025 to USD 1,346.08 billion by 2035, registering a CAGR of 2.92% during 2025–2035.

Infrastructure development remains one of the strongest growth drivers. Governments are investing in roads, bridges, railway systems, airports, utilities, and urban infrastructure, creating substantial requirements for reinforcing bars and structural steel products.

Construction represents the largest end-use industry, accounting for approximately 52.3% of the market in 2025. Rebar is particularly important because it reinforces concrete structures and contributes to the strength and durability of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Urbanization is another important factor. Growing cities require new housing, transportation networks, commercial buildings, and public facilities. Developing economies are consequently generating significant opportunities for long steel manufacturers.

Renewable energy projects are also expanding the industry's customer base. Wind towers, solar structures, transmission infrastructure, and other energy projects require steel components capable of meeting demanding mechanical and structural requirements.

Sustainability is influencing production methods as well. Electric arc furnaces are gaining importance because they can use recycled steel scrap and support lower-carbon steelmaking. The EAF segment is projected to grow at approximately 3.2% annually through 2035.

Asia-Pacific remains a dominant regional market, supported by industrialization, urbanization, and major infrastructure investments in China and India. Europe and North America are also developing opportunities through green steel initiatives and infrastructure modernization.

Overall, the long steel industry is positioned for steady expansion as global economies continue investing in infrastructure, construction, transportation, and renewable energy.
