Tips for Choosing the Right Connector

Before purchasing, I recommend preparing a short checklist. Confirm the SCSI interface type, number of contacts, PCB footprint, mounting method, connector orientation, mating connector, material requirements, and expected operating environment.

If the application involves vibration, temperature changes, dust, or frequent maintenance, these conditions should be communicated to the supplier.

Ordering samples is also a smart step for projects involving significant quantities. A physical sample lets engineers verify the fit, mating action, terminal position, and overall construction before committing to mass production.

Price should certainly be considered, but it should not be the only deciding factor. Consistent manufacturing quality, documentation, delivery capability, and supplier communication can be much more valuable over the lifetime of a project.
